Capitol Theatre US 1974

MELANIE is no stranger to this area. She was born in Astoria, Long Island. Her mother, Polly, a former jazz singer became Melanie's first musical influence. While still in high school, MELANIE began singing in Greenwich Village coffee houses, passing the hat for nickels and dimes. Who was to know at that time that she was to become one of today's brightest stars. MELANIE recently turned 27 years of age (Feb. 3, 1974) and she celebrated it by giving a concert at New York's Metropolitan Opera House. Melanie's appearance tonight will mark her second appearance at the Capitol.
